The Complex Structure of Neonatology is structured as follows:
- Nest: hospitalization of healthy infants;
- Roming-In: for the promotion of breastfeeding and fostering the mother-child relationship. It is located in the Obstetrics Department, where new mothers are helped in the care of the newborn;
- Neonatal Pathology: newborns over 32 weeks of gestational age and weighing more than 1,200 g are hospitalized, as well as newborns from their own home with potentially non-communicable diseases;
- Isolation: admission of infants with potential contagiousness up to one month of life.
All newborns in care both at the Nursery and in Roming-In and Neonatal Pathology, the following assessments are carried out:
- Level I Auditory Screening;
- Red Reflection Screening;
- Metabolic Screening.
As part of the Prevention, an Outpatient Clinic is carried out for the administration of Synagis to eligible children, born Inborn and Outborn with a request for the point of birth.
Outpatient Services
Other outpatient services concern:
- Prenatal Consulting;
- Follow-up of the Preterm Infant;
- Neonatal Ultrasound Service with reservation at the ReCUP of the ASL. It takes place on Friday from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm:
- Brain;
- Also;
- Kidney;
- Upper and lower abdomen;
- Testicular;
- Lumbo-sacral spine
- Neonatological Consulting: sent to the General Emergency Department.
As part of the outpatient services, there is a Nursing Service dedicated to blood samples, umbilical cord treatment, weight control, purpera help for breastfeeding…
The Department Laboratory carries out:
- Blood gas analysis by ABL with micromethod;
- Bilirubinemia by bilirubinometer after centrifugation.
