Purpose of the service
Guarantee all citizens, including non-residents, health care for situations of an urgent nature during working hours when primary care doctors and paediatricians of free choice are not available. The Service is active at the following times:
- from 8.00 pm to 8.00 am, on weekdays and public holidays;
- from 10.00 am to 8.00 pm on pre-holiday days;
- from 08.00 to 20.00 on public holidays.

Non-residents of the Lazio Region must pay for the services provided (art. 38 of the Regional General Medicine Supplementary Agreement, transposed with DGR 229/06) as specified below:
- Outpatient visit: € 15.00
- Home visit: € 25.00
- Repetitive medical acts: € 5.00
The Continuity of Care Physician who makes a visit, according to the above rates, issues a tax receipt/invoice in his/her own name, with the following reasons: Outpatient/home medical visit for a fee or non-repetitive medical act, collecting the related remuneration, similarly to general practitioners for occasional visits.
Doctors can, after visiting the patient:
- prescribe drugs for emergency therapy and to cover a course of therapy not exceeding 48/72 hours;
- propose urgent hospitalization;
- certify the illness to shift workers for a maximum of three days;
- continuity of care physicians may not prescribe examinations and specialist visits, nor transcribe prescriptions of other health care providers, including those of hospital discharge.
