The Service aims to ensure the health of livestock. This has a decisive weight both in terms of the protection of the heritage itself as an economic resource, and in reducing the risk of transmission of diseases to humans, through direct contact or through products of animal origin.
The activity of the service is developed in the following areas:
- hygienic-sanitary protection of livestock, also in relation to the environment and supervision of animal welfare;
- supervision and advice for the transport of live animals and animal by-products;
- animal nutrition and hygienic-sanitary protection of food intended for animals for income and affection, with particular reference to medicated feed, BSE (mad cow disease) surveillance and Community trade;
- zooiatric assistance, use of the veterinary drug and presence of residues in livestock production;
- use of hormonal and anti-hormonal substances as factors for the growth or sexual neutralisation of animals, whose meat and products are intended for human consumption;
- animal reproduction;
- import, export and transit of animals, animal products and animal leftovers, with particular reference to the condition of animal welfare in transport;
- use of experimental animals;
- collection, transport and treatment of animal remains;
- control over the milk production chain (breeding and transport);
- control of beekeeping and honey production;
- trade and breeding of pets and exotic animals.

Health Authorisations
Health authorisations are issued by the mayor of the Municipality where the activity is based. The Veterinary Service issues the health opinion.

Veterinary Rights (Clarifications)
The veterinary fees provided for the aforementioned activities can be paid to any C.U.P. of the District of Frosinone and the invoice certifying the payment must be presented to the Veterinary Service that will take care of the release of the investigation.
