Pediatric vaccination flies in the province of Frosinone. A little more than a month after the start of the campaign dedicated to the 5-11 age group, the numbers tell of a convinced and concrete response from children and their parents.
More than 13,500 doses have already been administered in the five company paediatric hubs of the Asl of Frosinone with a coverage that has already broken 30%.
ASL vaccination centers work full-time and after the sale of reservations, the Healthcare Company increased the daily availability up to 430 first doses, distributed on the company’s pediatric hubs: Alatri Hospital, Sala Teatro dello Spaziani Frosinone, Sora Hospital, Casa della Salute in Pontecorvo, Stellantis Hub in Cassino.
Doses can be booked on the regional website at the address: Book Lazio Region Vaccine until next February 28.
With the head of the anti-Covid vaccination campaign Dr. Maria Gabriella Calenda, we take stock of the situation by answering some questions from the territory.
Is the Covid vaccine safe for children?
The vaccine is safe and studies show that it is more than 90% effective. After vaccinating millions of children around the world, we can say with certainty that the side effects are also minimal, completely comparable to those of other vaccinations.
In most cases, children contract the disease mildly, why should they be vaccinated?
Despite having less serious clinical manifestations than adults, unfortunately, even for this age group, there have been episodes of children hospitalized due to the virus, some of whom ended up in paediatric intensive care. Vaccinating them means avoiding risks and complications for the present and for the future.
Should children be prepared for vaccination? Are there any dietary or pharmacological indications to follow before carrying it out?
It is appropriate to prepare them from a psychological point of view and in this we ask for the collaboration of the parents. On the other hand, there are no particular food or pharmacological indications before they are carried out.
What are the adverse effects of vaccination?
The data tell us that adverse effects are rare and minor: local pain or headache. All this happens in sporadic situations and in a similar way to what occurs for the most advanced age groups.
And the most fragile children?
Children with chronic diseases are particularly benefited by this vaccination because they are the ones who are most at risk in the event of a virus. So they absolutely must be protected.
