Paediatric vaccinations in the province of Frosinone reached 58%, a percentage that is above the national and regional average. An important result for the campaign that started on 15 December and that, in two months, has already secured more than half of the young people in the 5-11 age group, winning the resistance of even the most skeptical.
Also significant are the percentages of 98% for the 12-15 age group and 94% for the 16-19 age group, which ensure almost complete protection of the developing age population.
Administration data show that there are enormous benefits of paediatric vaccination, which prevents children, in the event of infection, from having serious repercussions on their quality of life and health status.
Without adequate protection, the risk is the development of symptoms that could even last a long time: the so-called “long covid”. Headache, sleep disorders, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, abdominal pain, myalgia, chest pain, stomach pain, diarrhea with consequences not only physically but also psychologically and on their neuropsychological and social development.
We have heard the opinion of Dr. Luigi Di Ruzza, Acting Coordinator of the Maternal and Child Department of the Asl of Frosinone:
“The response of the Frusinate population for the 5-11 age group was excellent, thanks to the important work done and the commitment made by all health professionals (paediatricians and vaccine centre staff) in raising awareness among the children’s parents, who were particularly receptive to the clear indications coming from the paediatric medical world regarding the safety and efficacy of the mRNA vaccine.
Hospital and local paediatricians have worked and work in synergy with each other and with vaccination centres, with the aim of always giving a unique, non-confusing message, which has already achieved the positive effect of bringing the number of vaccinated people above the national and regional average.
When the work is synergistic, the results obtained are always flattering.
It is understood that the objective is to be able to obtain an even broader vaccination coverage than the current one, so that the affected age group, among the most fragile, can enjoy an increasingly high and reassuring immunization status. For this reason, the commitment of the entire paediatric world is aimed at achieving this goal”.
