Televisitis, telemedicine services that allow patients to be visited at home, are also active in the Asl of Frosinone. The coordinator of the digital transformation of the Azienda Sanitaria, Dr. Sergio Pillon, explains the news that is affecting the territory.
Whatis televisit?
These are specialist visits reserved for patients already known by doctors, who have made the first in-person visit and who can, at the direction of the departments themselves, continue to be assisted directly at home. An important advantage especially for the elderly, for those who have difficulty moving and for children who will be accompanied by their parents or relatives during the consultations. The televisit should not be booked but it is precisely the doctors of the clinic who determine who can be assisted with telemedicine.
How does a televisit take place?
For the patient it is enough to have a smartphone, the doctor, on the other hand, will preferably use a PC that will give him access to the patient’s medical record. The apps used for the conference call are in particular Skype, Zoom and other programs that give a greater guarantee of privacy. Reject WhatsApp and Messenger for this reason. At the end of the visit, the doctor will issue a prescription that will arrive directly with an SMS on the mobile phone if it is a medicine, or on the email if a specialist visit is prescribed.
What are the active departments?
We already have sixteen lists of different specialties: in Frosinone the dermatological, hematological, endocrinological (diabetological), infectious, internistic, cardiological, hypertension, otorhinolaryngological, maxillofacial surgical control televisites and the surveillance of anticoagulant therapy that is also held in Alatri and Cassino. The internal control television is also available in Alatri, while the endocrinology service is available in Pontecorvo. In Aquino the neurological control televisit, in Sora the cardiological control. Ten more departments will activate the service shortly. In addition, home teleradiology is also available for frail patients.
“Telemedicine – explains Dr. Pillon – has a very wide range of fields of application. We can also think, for example, of psychological support for pregnant women and a remote rehabilitation service. In a territory such as that of the Asl of Frosinone, many patients with an important distance from hospitals, Televisit becomes an indispensable tool for the most fragile people.”
