It is possible to give birth at home and those who choose to give birth within the home are entitled to a reimbursement of 800 euros. This was established by the Lazio Region, which in 2016 also set the reimbursable amount useful to cover the expenses that must be faced to make use of the experience of freelance midwives who work privately.
The possibility of giving birth within the walls of one’s own home is only possible, however, if it is ascertained that it is a natural birth without complications.
