New machinery and services for the Santa Scolastica di Cassino, which increases its care capacity on the territory. With the Health Director, Dr. Mario Fabi, we take stock of the situation.
Dr. Fabi, what’s new for Santa Scolastica?
The most important, at this time, is the construction of an intensive diving department with 14 beds for the Pneumology department with state-of-the-art medical equipment. We are working on it thanks to regional funding, and soon the project will see the light of day. For a few weeks now, the UOC has also been able to count on a state-of-the-art thoracoscope, generously donated by the “Friends of the Hospital” association, which allows us to provide services in our hospital facility that patients were previously forced to do in Rome. Thanks to all this, the Pneumology department has managed to increase its care capacity.
In terms of mobility and logistics, it should be noted that the activation of the Hematology Day Service is allowing the administration of therapies and treatments to many patients in the hinterland of Cassino who had to go to the Hematology UOC of the PO of Frosinone.
In this regard, we have recorded the satisfaction of the citizens.
Similarly to haematology, presumably after the summer, the Oncology Day Service will be activated, with the collaboration of the Oncology UOC of Sora, to also administer treatments and therapies for cancer diseases in our territory.
One of our excellences is already giving excellent results, namely the Child Audiology service, a regional reference, which welcomes small patients from other regions every day.
New machinery has recently arrived
In recent days, the new biomometer has been delivered to the Ophthalmology department and two refractometers have also arrived, the latest generation of machinery that increases the healthcare offer. There are also news for Digestive Endoscopy, which will soon have an electroscalpel with argon gas technology. In addition, the new telemetry will be delivered shortly with the monitoring of the four beds of the coronary intensive care unit of Cassino cardiology.
The new equipment is in addition to the modern CT and MRI scans purchased by the Lazio Region, which have increased the performance possibilities of our hospital.
Looking forward to summer?
The activity will continue regularly in all departments, taking into account the already scheduled vacation plan of the staff. Also for the Emergency Room, similarly to what happens in Sora and Frosinone, we will have sufficient medical staff to cover all shifts, which is provided by the cooperative that won the call.
On the parking lot?
We are solving the administrative and bureaucratic problems, the Municipality of Cassino has already shown the utmost willingness to solve the internal viability of the hospital structure. In addition, we have already carried out a complete external disinfestation of the hospital and we are now proceeding gradually inside. The cleaning company has started the dewaxing of the floors of the departments that are recovering their original appearance. We have had a problem related to the sewerage system on which the resolution intervention will shortly be carried out by the company that has contracted the maintenance of the company’s systems.
