Adherence to the health promotion interventions offered by ASL Frosinone for the 2022-2023 school year

Six programmes to promote the health and better lifestyle of students in the province of Frosinone for the 2022-2023 school year.

Projects included in the Business Implementation Plan of the Prevention Plan of the Lazio Region, which the contact person of the Asl of Frosinone of the “Network of Schools that Promote Health” Dr. Lucio Maciocia will present next Monday (12 noon at the Città della Salute in via Armando Fabi) to the School Directors of the Province.

Unplugged, Sanochisa, Muovinsieme, Active Pause, Peer Education, “Collega-Menti” Lifestyles, the names of the projects that will give young students the opportunity to acquire useful elements to pursue the “mens sana in corpore sano”.

UNPLUGGED” is a program aimed at enhancing and promoting the personal skills of young people in terms of self-esteem, self-efficacy and resilience, in order to increase their ability to manage daily challenges and foster a greater sense of personal control. This intervention allows to improve the well-being and psychosocial health of children through the recognition and enhancement of the personal and social skills necessary to manage emotionality and social relationships, and prevent the use of substances.

Target: the programme is dedicated to pupils aged 11-14 (second and third grades of first grade secondary school).

SANOCHISA” is a regional program recognized as good practice and active since the 2016/2017 school year to promote the adoption of correct eating styles, the increase of motor activity and the critical reading of advertising in Lazio students.

Target: the programme is dedicated to pupils in the third grades of primary school and to pupils in the first and second grades of first grade secondary school.

MUOVINSIEME” is a project that combines the practice of physical activity (walking) with the possibility of learning in a place other than the classroom (outdoor teaching), also promoting and enhancing socialization and relational aspects.

Target: the project is dedicated to primary schools, but on request it can also be activated in first grade secondary schools.

ACTIVE BREAKS are small movement breaks lasting 1, 2, 5 or 10 minutes, performed in class and adaptable to everyone’s physical abilities. They are a way to promote the movement of pupils in a fun and safe way, as well as an effective strategy to promote attention and learning, making children and young people more active and more focused to do work in the classroom. Active breaks can be taken during the interval or at any time of the day. It is the teacher who chooses when to propose to the class to take an active break according to the needs: at the beginning of the lesson, between one lesson and another, in the interval, as a “challenge” or weekly routine.

Target: active breaks are aimed at pupils in kindergarten and primary and secondary school (Grade I).

PEER EDUCATION for health promotion interventions, with particular reference to the prevention of smoking. Peer education is an educational method (particularly used in education and health promotion) according to which a small group of “peers” actively work to inform and influence other children, generally a few years younger. It is an educational strategy aimed at activating a natural process of passing on knowledge, emotions and experiences from some members of the group to other members of equal status. With the educational approach of peer education, students become active subjects of their own training, no longer just receptors of content or information transferred by the adult.

Target: Peer education interventions are mainly aimed at secondary school students in the second grade.

“COLLEGA-MENTI” LIFESTYLES: it is a program for third and fifth grade students. It is promoted by the Italian Society for Health Promotion and is carried out in agreement with the Lazio Region, on an experimental basis, for the Province of Frosinone alone. It provides 5 hours of training for teachers in the third classes and 5 hours for teachers in the fifth classes. For the implementation of the program, the teachers involved must dedicate at least 10 curricular hours to classroom intervention and 2 hours to monitoring. The teaching material will be provided to the Comprehensive Schools that will adhere to the Project in paper and web format.
