The clinic dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of psoriasis has been activated at Dermatology in Frosinone.
Led by Dr. Franco Lunghi, head of the UOSD, the clinic is active on Tuesdays from 9.00 to 12.00 every two weeks and is located in Palazzina Q in Via Armando Fabi.
Psoriasis is a chronic-relapsing inflammatory skin disease characterised by erythematous-squamous patches of varying size. It is one of the most common and widespread dermatological diseases, the prevalence in the general Italian population is estimated at 2.8% with a higher frequency of cases in men. It can occur at any age, with the highest incidence between 20 and 30 years and between 50 and 60 years.
10% of patients are affected by severe forms and in about 30% of patients with psoriasis the disease also affects the joints in the form of psoriatic arthritis.
Today the possibilities for treatment are varied and the therapeutic choice is based on the clinical variant of the disease, its extension on the skin, the involvement of the joints, the presence of any other associated diseases and its impact on the patient’s daily life.
In localized forms, topical drugs can be used, such as creams and ointments based on keratolytics, cortisones and vitamin D derivatives and in extended and/or arthropathic forms, systemic drugs such as acitretin, cyclosporine, methotrexate and biological drugs.
To access the clinic, CUP reservations are active with a doctor’s prescription for a dermatological examination with the indication for psoriasis.
